A Little About Me

My name is Natasha and I am 43 years old.  I am a Christian, wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, stepmother, aunt, great-aunt, niece, cousin, friend and infertile.  I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1996 when I was married previously.  For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a mommy and after being diagnosed with PCOS I knew that getting pregnant would take help from a doctor, but after I was divorced I didn't worry about it too much.  I just knew that someday it would happen, when the time was right.

In late 2002 I met the most wonderful man in the world and we married in early 2004.  From the beginning he knew that we would have to use a fertility doctor to get pregnant, but he thought it would happen quickly.  I however was more realistic.  I knew it would take time, but he didn't believe me so we put off TTCing for a couple of years.  When we didn't get pregnant right away I think he finally realized that this would be long journey for us, but because he already had a son, I don't think he was in as big of a hurry as I was.

The first doctor we worked with wasn't very proactive at all.  Here I was over 30 with a previous history of infertility and she made us TTC naturally for 6 months.  It was horrible!  Then she made us do 3 months of just Clomid before we moved onto any type of procedures or any additional meds.  I blame that first doc for everything taking so long for us.  If I had the doc we ended up with before moving to Florida but in the very beginning, we probably would have been parents much sooner. But God is an On Time God....HIS time not our time!

I endured many procedures over the course of about 6 years and lots of meds! In December 2010 we experienced our first BFP and unfortunately a miscarriage followed shortly after.  Six weeks to the day of my miscarriage we were pleasantly surprised with a natural BFP!  In September 2011, two weeks after turning 39, my dream of becoming a mommy came true.  I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Hope. She was born at 34 weeks 3 days because I developed Preeclampsia and had to be induced.  She spent 3 days in the NICU and then we were able to bring our little miracle home.  In late 2012 we decided to seek the help of another RE and began the process of referrals and testing.  So now being 40 and the hubby being 45 we were told we would have to move to injections to be able to TTC because that would be the only thing that would work.  Eleven days after taking my "shot class" on a whim I POAS because my cycle was running a bit long.  We were shocked to learn that despite all odds we were pregnant yet again and naturally again.  I gave birth to our second beautiful baby girl in January 2014 at 34 weeks 6 days at the age of 41.  After a week on hospital bed rest I was induced early due to low amniotic fluid, however baby Maisie was in a bit of a rush to meet us and decided to be a little trouble maker.  The morning after induction started her heart rate dropped and I was rushed to the OR for an emergency C Section.  She came out pink and screaming and ended up only staying in the NICU for 1 day. Our first few weeks weren't as easy as the same weeks with her sister.  I was diagnosed with the flu the day after she was born and was unable to breastfeed her or hold her unless I was wearing a mask, gloves and a gown. Even when we were sent home I had to do the same things.  She was the youngest baby in the state of Florida to ever be given Tamiflu.  Then a little over a week after she was born I was hospitalized for 8 days with an abscess because of the C-section.

Life is exciting with two little girls and never dull.  They keep me on my toes.  The hubby and I never know what to expect them and laugh daily at their shenanigans.  They are both extremely imaginative and smart.

I'm an IT! Works distributor, I do behavior therapy with children with Autism, I have an in home Cake Decorating business, I am addicted to the Food Network, any shows having to do with cooking like Top Chef or Hell's Kitchen, I love to read and Facebook is a definite vice.

In August of 2015 I began a new journey.  I took the first steps for weight loss surgery and let me tell you it was a hard decision to make.  My doctor is board certified and at our local Air Force base.  I had the Vertical Gastric Sleeve procedure done on March 7, 2016.  Right now at 12 weeks out I am down 65lbs!

Hope you enjoy my blog.  It will be a little of everything.
